TRESTLEBOARD Phoenicia Lodge No. 58 |
B.Y.O.S. AT THE WEISMANS
Come and join us on Saturday, Sept. 3rd for a leisure late afternoon swim and Bar-B-Q gathering starting at 4 p.m. at Brother Greg Weisman’s house. There will be hot dogs and all the fixings and cold beverages too. Bring the kids. Bring Your Own Steak for that Big Appetite. Bring a friend. Bring a prospective candidate. Located at 8213 E. Meadowbrook Ave. in Scottsdale. Two blocks North of Camelback Rd. between 82nd Street and Granite Reef Rd. FROM THE EAST Greetings Brethren, I am very pleased to say that Phoenicia’s First Degree last Tuesday the 26th was as enjoyable to those in attendance as it was to the candidate. The father of the candidate delivered the apron lecture, which was very inspiring, and W. Bro. Bill Greenen recited the E.A. lecture as though he had been doing it all his life and really kept us all on the edge of our seats. My thanks to all that participated. My special thanks to W. Bro. Don Methven for preparing the dinner.
Pay close attention the next time you pull up to the front of our Lodge. You may notice the new sign on the front of the Lodge building which clearly displays our Lodge name and our meeting days and times. This sign was created and hung on the front of the building by our Brothers from Paradise Valley Silver Trowel without so much as a word. It is, without a doubt, these acts of consideration that remind me of why I’m a Mason. Fraternally, Randall Smith, Worshipful Master FROM THE WEST Greetings Brethren, Grand Lodge has come and gone for 2005. We said good-bye to two more Lodges this year, the same as the last, but hello to two new Lodges. One in Tucson, a Spanish speaking lodge, and one at Pioneer Village north of Phoenix, a Cowboy Lodge set in the old west style. We said good-bye to our Brothers who withdrew to the Celestial Lodge with God in 2005. We cast our votes for the good of Freemasonry. Some legislation past while some failed. Awards were handed out. Phoenicia once again received the Builders Award, with our eye out for next year to receive the Master Architect Award, but we will need everyone’s support to earn that award. And maybe we could win the Trestle Board or Website award next year too. All in all, a successful Grand Lodge was held. On another subject. What do you say when someone ask you what is Freemasonry or why are you a Mason? This is a question we should be able to answer. Can you? We learned at Grand Lodge that we need to look at how we answer this question. Explaining the great things we do as a fraternity today and for the future of our communities. That we are a Brotherhood of men, proud of our past and proud of our work today. So that the future Masons a hundred years from now will be proud of our time in history, as we carve the future for them. There is real value in being a Mason today, as there was fifty years ago or two hundred years ago. We have a great foundation to build the future. Does your family know what it means for you to be a Mason? Do you talk about it. You should talk about Masonry and answer there questions. This is a wonderful source of family unity, and of new members into our Masonic Family. Many of us are second and third generation Masons or don't really know how far back our Masonic heritage goes. You should be proud to share with your friends and family the functions and activities of your Lodge. Remember Brothers, your always welcome. Come enjoy the Brotherhood. Fraternally, Gregory S. Weisman, Senior Warden FRIEND TO FRIEND NIGHT Our next “Friend to Friend” night will be held on August 30th, the fifth Tuesday of the month. Bro. Scot Baker will present the “Friend to Friend” program to the members and their guests at 7:00 pm. Refreshments will be served before the presentation.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Freemasonry is to promote a way of life that binds like-minded men in a worldwide brotherhood that transcends all religious, ethnic, cultural, social, and educational differences. By teaching the great principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth and by the outward expression of these principles through its fellowship, its compassion, and its concern to find ways in which to serve God, family, country, neighbors and self.

Thanks to Brother Jack Buta, anyone in the Valley of the Sun can find a Lodge meeting throughout the week by calling for a recorded message, updated every Monday evening.
I have changed the way you will receive the Trestleboard. You will now receive an email with a link to a web site that contains the Trestleboard. This should help speed things up.
